UAE is sitting in a position that affords them the luxury of maybe sneaking into the fourth round of qualification for the World Cup, which would easily get them into the 2026 World Cup. UAE, under the management of manager Paulo Bento since July 2023, has scored seven goals and conceded four in their five group matches, making them one of the top offensive and defensive teams left in the AFC World Cup qualifiers. Even though UAE won the most recent match against Kyrgyzstan, it was just their first win in four games, with previous wins of four out of five matches. They have been successful overall, losing just twice in the last 12 matches played at Al Nahyan Stadium, in which they won eight of the last 12 games played there.

Qatar was pretty dominant over Uzbekistan in the first half as they scored two goals and then secured the match with a late winner from Lucas Mendes, while manager Tintin Marquez feels quite optimistic, pointing out plenty of positive aspects about his team after the 'portentous' victory. Qatar has had mixed results of late, but they have been fairly resilient while playing away, losing just one of the last eight away games.

With a loss to Iran being Qatar's last away game, it now appears the team is going pretty strong on the road and at least should look forward to having at least a draw.
