As of September 2015, Jason Day was ranked first in the world in the World Golf Ranking. After finishing as the runner-up at the 2011 U.S. Open, Day entered the top ten for the first time. Day won the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in February 2014 for the first time in his career and again in 2016. He became only the third player in WGC Match Play history to win the tournament multiple times, joining Tiger Woods and Geoff Ogilvy. He shot a tournament record of 20 shots under par to win the 2015 PGA Championship, propelling him to third place in the global rankings.
