The Hero World Challenge takes place from December 4th to December 7th, with a $50 million purse. Robert MacIntyre and Chris Gotterup will face off in a second-round two-ball matchup. The previous winner of this tournament was Scottie Scheffler with a prize money of a million dollars. All events will be held at Albany Golf course, Albany. Excitement is high for this matchup. A world class -6 (66) in brutal R2 conditions has Robert MacIntyre in a share of the lead at the Dunhill Links. He goes with the putter and makes a superb job of it — 3ft to finish with a birdie. The approach comes up just short of the green. Had that right on line but the wind didn’t affect it a huge deal. Bang in the middle of the fairway at the par-5 last. A birdie here and he will join the lead. A very nicely judged pitch leaves a simple par at the penultimate hole. He had the tee shot on a nice line at 8 but the wind didn't hit it, he looks confused with that. Another tee shot into the wind with another tough approach shot to come at 5. The 4th is straight into the wind & Bob fires a low drive up the fairway. From a long way left at the 17th, Bob finds the middle of the green — 30ft for birdie. MacIntyre had seven birdies and one bogey by the end of his round. He was six under after his 66, which put him three shots behind the leader. The Alfred Dunhill Links is more than just another tournament for MacIntyre. It is home, a part of history, and proof that Scotland's son is ready for a bigger stage. The buzz is backed up by MacIntyre's numbers. He is very consistent, with a Strokes Gained: Total of 0.894 (15th place) and a strong Tee-to-Green game. He drives the ball an average of more than 302 yards, hits almost 69% of greens in regulation, and is one of the most balanced ball strikers on the Tour.

Robert MacIntyre is an all round world class golfer and I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes on to win this. After the emotions of the Ryder Cup that would be astonishing.

Chris Gotterup attended Rutgers University, where he played college golf. He quickly became a standout player, earning several accolades, including Big Ten Golfer of the Year and All-American honors. His success in college laid the foundation for his future in professional golf. After college, Gotterup moved into professional golf, facing tougher competition. His solid college career helped him adjust well to the higher stakes. He made an impact early, with strong finishes in various tournaments. However, Gotterup struggled in Japan for the second year in a row. He posted over-par rounds at Yokohama Country Club, where the course was yielding low scores. Despite ranking second in driving distance, his poor putting and lack of birdies hurt his performance. He is set to play at the Hero World Challenge in December. In his rookie year, Gotterup claimed his first PGA Tour win at the Myrtle Beach Classic, an alternate event in May. That win was his only top-10 finish, and he had just four top-25 finishes that year. In 2022, Gotterup made three consecutive cuts in the PGA Tour's fall series. He’ll become a full-time PGA Tour player in 2024, largely thanks to his strong performance on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2023, where he recorded 14 top-25 finishes. He also led the Korn Ferry Tour in driving distance and ranked in the top 10 for GIR percentage and birdie average.

Chris Gotterup was introduced to golf at a young age. He showed a strong interest in the sport and spent countless hours practicing on the course. His dedication set the stage for a promising career. His consistency stands out, from hitting fairways to sinking key putts, making him a tough competitor.

  • Robert MacIntyre was furious with himself despite carding 68 in the final round of the DP World Tour Championship.
  • Robert MacIntyre's recent performance tells the same story. He finished second at the BMW Championship, seventh at The Open, and stayed in the top 20 at the TOUR Championship, which shows he is right up there with the best in the world.
  • An opening round of -6 (66) at Carnoustie for MacIntyre. Putt was a lot longer that I thought but he’s judged it really well and it’ll be a par to finish the day. Horrible lie after the tee shot finds the rough but he manages to chop it out and onto the green.
  • Bob MacIntyre just shot a 2nd round 66 in incredibly tough conditions at Kingsbarns to tie the lead of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Robert MacIntyre leads the BMW Championship by 5 strokes after 36 holes.
  • Gotterup closed with a four-under 66 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 10th place at the TOUR Championship. He fired a two-under 68 on Sunday at the BMW Championship to finish six-over and tied for 33rd.
  • Gotterup finished in solo third place after a four-under 67 in the final round of The Open Championship. He finished with a four-under 66 in the final round to win the Genesis Scottish Open by two strokes on Sunday.

Without a doubt, the two golfers have done incredibly well, and there are a lot of expectations from them here. Predicting the outcome is not that difficult, given the performances of both golfers leading up to this point and the potential they bring. Robert MacIntyre is an awesome guy with the best attitude and personality. Robert MacIntyre has had PGA Tour success but moved his base back home to Scotland, because being based in the US wasn't the best for him.
