Overall, Detroit has lived up to expectations as a solid mid-major in the preseason. In five games, the Red Wings managed to record three wins: 4-2 and 2-0 over Chicago, and 2-1 over Pittsburgh. They suffered setbacks in the other two, losing 1-5 to the Penguins and 3-4 (OT) to Buffalo. With seven points, they can settle for third place in the Atlantic Division standings.

Toronto

Toronto has played the fewest games in the Atlantic Division this preseason. So far, the Maple Leafs have had four of them, defeating Montreal (2-1) twice and failing to Ottawa (5-6 OT and 1-2) twice. These results aren't what Craig Berube was hoping for, so the team is still subject to rotation.
