First, Toronto defeated Boston 2-1 on home ice. Then they beat Carolina 3-1 away. In doing so, the Maple Leafs showed that they should not be written off.

Craig Berube's partnership with the Vegas Golden Knights has been very productive thus far. Under the direction of the former Boston coach, the Knights have won 11 out of 13 games and are solely at the top of the Western Conference standings. In the case of Toronto, Vegas is coming into the game with a winning streak of seven straight victories. The Canadiens were the previous two victims of the Golden Knights - Ottawa (5-4) and Montreal (6-4).
