Alexey Oleinik vs Vinicius Moreira Prediction: Everything will be decided in the first round

On 1 June, Omsk will host the tenth edition of the Alexander Shlemenko League tournament. In the co-main event, Russian veteran Alexey Oleinik will share the cage with Brazilian Vinicius Moreira.

After being dismissed from the UFC, where Alexey Oleinik's career was long and very worthy, he started fighting in Russia and doesn't seem to be going to finish at all. Oleinik had both of his Russian fights last year, and they ended in different ways.

First, he surprisingly lost by knockout to Oli Thompson, and then he choked out Fernando Rodriguez on stand-up.

Those fights (both of them) showed that he'd be better off in the stand-up to not provoke his opponent, but just roll him to the ground and finish him there. Neither Thompson nor Rodriguez could fight on equal footing. But as for the parterre, everything is brilliant here, as, indeed, for the last twenty years.

Now he has picked an extremely comfortable opponent. Moreira is not skilful in the stand-up either, he likes to wrestle, but he will be in trouble on the ground. Nevertheless, Oleynik is very tactful towards him.

Vinicius Moreira

Vinicius Moreira, of course, got these two victories in his last two fights, but they don't carry any value, and they don't speak at all about his level (because these victories were won in small Brazilian leagues over completely unknown citizens).

Before that, though, it's interesting. Moreira had three fights in not the strongest Russian promotions (Open FC and MMA Series), and lost all three times.

What to speak about UFC, where he also performed, it's written on every poster. But the result of that performance is usually not written - four fights and four early defeats, three of them in the first round.

There is nothing much to predict here, the level of the opponents is too different. Of course, we can say that the Brazilian has a chance (which Oly Thompson took advantage of, for example), but Moreira can't punch like Oly Thompson. He will struggle, and that will be his big mistake.
