Chandler is a former Bellator champion and superstar, and he joined the UFC with the aim of winning the title, but it didn't quite work out for him. He was given the best from the start as a status fighter, but things didn't work out. In six fights, he only won twice. Conor McGregor also fooled him with a 'dream fight', and now Chandler has lost two in a row (Dustin Puryear got him killed, and Charles Oliveira dismantled him on points). But he's still a top fighter, even if his dream of a belt remains unrealised. Michael can knock out anyone, he's got a great style and he fights with fire.
Paddy Pimblett
Paddy Pimblett joined the UFC in 2021, has already won six fights and has become a mega-star, more thanks to his charisma and behaviour outside the cage. He's got loads of fans and sells loads of PPVs, but he hasn't faced top opposition yet. Some of his wins over non-top opposition have been very close (like when Jared Gordon beat him for three rounds, but the judges didn't agree).
Prediction the Bout on 13 April 2025
Paddy Pimblett seems like a bit of a one-trick pony. But we totally get why a league needs to make sales, and Paddy's doing a great job with that. But in this game, they say there are levels, and Michael Chandler is a fighter far more dangerous than anyone Pimblett has faced before. The Brit will obviously be looking to wrestle, but Chandler is not to be trifled with - he won't relent in the parterre, and on his feet, he can calmly catch a takedown.
