Pang Junxu, China’s rising snooker star, secured a career-defining win on Wednesday (December 3, 2025), beating three-time world champion Mark Williams 6-3 in York. This victory sent the 25-year-old into his first UK Championship quarterfinal. Pang kept his cool at York’s Barbican Centre, despite a late fightback from Williams. He took control early with solid scoring and held onto his fourth-frame lead when Williams pushed back. After Williams posted a 112 break in the seventh frame, Pang responded with a tournament-high 116 clearance to seal the win. Next, Pang will face 2013 champion Neil Robertson in the quarterfinals. Robertson defeated China’s Wu Yize 6-1 earlier, recovering from an early loss with five straight half-century breaks.

Pang Junxu goes for a 1️4️7️. The Nanjing crowd loved that black. Snooker players dream of walking down those famous Crucible stairs. Pang Junxu opted for a different route. Chinese snooker player Pang Junxu defeated compatriot Zhang Anda 10-7 in the "Chinese Derby" to advance to the second round of the World Snooker Championship.

Neil Robertson powered into the UK Championship last eight with a commanding 6–1 win over Wu Yize in York. Wu started brightly with a 62 to take frame one, but from there it was vintage Robertson: breaks of 51, 65, 75 and 68 as he swept five straight frames and later overturned a 48-point deficit to seal the match. He’ll face Pang Junxu next, after the 25-year-old stunned two-time champion Mark Williams 6–3, finishing with a brilliant 116 to earn a standing ovation. Neil Robertson won the inaugural Crucible Cup. The Australian defeated Stephen Hendry, Mark Selby, and then John Higgins 7-5 in the final to lift the trophy. The unique event from Reading was played under Snooker 900 rules and shown on Pluto TV. Neil Robertson said the snooker calendar needs more formats after beating Stephen Hendry in the '900' Crucible Cup. The non-WST comp has 15-min frames and ball-in hand. Stephen Hendry's return to competitive snooker action ends in a 6-2 defeat to Neil Robertson at the Crucible Cup, but the seven-time world champion showed spells of his class, making a break of 100 in frame five. Robertson produced runs of 129, 104 and 106. Neil Robertson won a tough 6-4 match against John Higgins to reach the semi-finals of the Champion of Champions in Leicester. The game was close early on, with both players exchanging high breaks. Robertson made breaks of 83 and 127, while Higgins responded with runs of 91 and 81, leaving the first four frames tied. But Robertson took control with two impressive breaks of 115 and 64, leading 4-2. Although Higgins fought back with breaks of 86 and 79, Robertson sealed the win by taking the eighth frame and finishing with a solid 63, helped by an excellent long red in the 10th frame. Next, Robertson will face another four-time world champion, Mark Selby, in the semi-finals on Saturday. Earlier in the tournament, Robertson had beaten Tom Ford 4-1, and Higgins overcame Xiao Guodong 4-3. On Friday, world number one Judd Trump will take on reigning world champion Zhao Xintong in an exciting semi-final matchup.

Neil Robertson will now attempt to make amends for his mistakes and subpar performance in this match against Stuart Bingham. He goes into this match hoping to overturn the poor performance he had recently against Joe O'Connor (0-3), Judd Trump (3-0) and Tom Ford (3-0).

  • Qualifier Pang Junxu is through to the last 16 of the UK Championship following a 6-2 win over Chinese compatriot Xiao Guodong.
  • A very classy performance from Pang Junxu. The world number 30 - who had to win two qualifying matches to reach this main draw - defeats Mark Williams 6-3 to make the quarter-finals of a Triple Crown event for the first time.
  • Neil Robertson defends 'tight' UK Championship pockets after breezing past Wu Yize. He is the first player through to the quarter-finals of the 2025 UK Championship after a 6-1 win over an out-of-sorts Wu Yize.

A superb win for Pang Junxu, as he knocks Mark Williams out of the UK Championship, with the Welshman succumbing to a 6 - 3 defeat. This year’s tournament shows Asia’s growing presence in snooker, with several Chinese players advancing. Pang’s progress is China’s best quarterfinal showing since 2021, as the country prepares to host the 2026 World Snooker Championship in Shanghai. In this UK Championship tournament, I'd love Ding on Pang Junxu to win it, I do think Zhao could mix it up but I wouldn't write off Zhang Anda against him, he's playing really well. Pang Junxu is a decent player, Neil Robertson a joy to listen to post-match, very honest about the last few years on tour, a great listen
