Not the Best Year for Garin

Cristian Garin has had a roller-coaster year after suffering a difficult shoulder injury that caused him to doubt his ability to continue playing tennis. He had some good moments this year, but for the most part, the Chilean has been a disappointment.

It's a pity considering he's a fairly good tennis player with top-20 potential. His record of 16-18 suggests a struggle, as he has lost his last three matches. On hard courts, his record is 3-4, and he's had some good moments.

It will be difficult for him to simply step up here because he hasn't played in weeks and his most recent event was on clay. I don't think he has high expectations for himself, but if he practises hard enough, he may come out swinging. He can surprise Lehecka because he hasn't played against him before.

Not Enough Match Prep for Lehecka

Jiri Lehecka only played one hard-court match in preparation for the US Open, which is less than ideal. Due to his hallmark serve + forehand combo, the Czech player should prosper in these conditions; nevertheless, not playing a couple of events previous to the event may be an issue.

It seemed bad in the first round of Winston-Salem, but Peter Gojowczyk came out on top. Lehecka has had a terrific season thus far, advancing in the rankings and amassing a 35-24 overall record.

His greatest tennis has always come on clay, but he can also play effectively on hard courts. Overall, he's 5-3, which is fine given that he's still young and getting acclimated to the surface. Garin represents a good opportunity for him, but he must bring his best game.

Expert Betting Tips

his is an intriguing one, especially because both will be hoping for the best. I'm going to side with Garin here, no matter how much Lehecka appears to be a superior match on hard courts.

He was in a similar situation for Wimbledon, but had a tremendous week there, so I'm going to expect the same here.
