Roberto Bautista Agut, the world's number 18, won the opening set in a hard-fought round of 16 matchup with Casper Ruud at the Canada Masters, but he was unable to hang on as the Norwegian saved match point to win the match in three. As the Spaniard plays world number 27 Francisco Cerundolo for the first time on tour, this might very well be the match of the round on the Men's side of the draw in Cincinnati between two players in excellent recent form.

An unexpected three-set loss to Karen Khachanov in the first round of the Canada Masters this week is enough to suggest that the in-form RBA, who just won his eleventh ATP championship, may prevail in this match.
Cerundolo is a young player who presumably excels on clay because he uses it nearly entirely. He is only allowed to play eight matches on hard throughout the ATP circuit, and he hasn't played many lower-level matches.
