After Manchester City's victory earlier on Saturday, Arsenal dropped into third place. However, the Gunners responded in an emphatic fashion and secured a vital three points as the title race heated up between the three rivals.

Arsenal has won 10 out of their last 11 league games, which brings them up to 71 points in 31 games. Currently, both Liverpool and Manchester City have 70 points each, with Liverpool scheduled to play against Manchester United on Super Sunday at Old Trafford.

Arsenal started the game slowly, but they soon found their stride and began to put pressure on Brighton. In the 33rd minute, Saka scored a penalty after Tariq Lamptey fouled Gabriel Jesus in the area. Arsenal continued to attack, and in the 62nd minute, Kai Havertz scored from close range with an assist from Jorginho. Late in the game, former Brighton player Trossard came on as a substitute and sealed the victory with a delicate finish.

Brighton suffered their first home league defeat since August, marking a significant loss for the team.

Kai Havertz commented after the match
"The attitude and work rate of the boys is phenomenal and everyone put everything into that game -- that is why we are successful right now." To be honest, we didn't speak about [City's win]. We tried to focus on ourselves and win the game, that is more important than looking at the other games right now. "We must win our matches and see where that brings us. We have to keep on going, we have another big game in the midweek."

Arsenal have managed to keep five consecutive clean sheets in their Premier League away matches. Mikel Arteta's team has temporarily regained control of the title race. Meanwhile, Brighton is currently five points behind the top seven, as they have gone three games without a victory.
