ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Winners List

The T20 format redefined the limited overs game in cricket. The first-ever men’s t20 match was played back in 2005 between New Zealand and Australia, held at Eden Park. Australia came out on top as they defeated NZ by 44 runs. Since then the format has gained popularity and spectators enjoy it as the match lasts for quite short duration when compared with the 50 overs format.

The 2021 T20 tournament will have 16 teams competing against each other, with 8 already qualified for round 2 based on the ICC T20 team rankings. This world cup will be held after 5 years since the last edition held in India in 2016.

The T20 world cup generally takes place every 2 years, but this world cup was supposed to be held after 4 years before it was postponed in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The T20 world cup has been held in 2007,2009,2010,2012,2014 and 2016 till now.
