UK-based enterprise telecommunications service provider Colt Technology Services has revealed plans to expand its presence in Asia-Pacific by extending its Colt IQ Network to Australia.

The operator will initially focus on deploying services in the Sydney metro area, and has currently deployed Ethernet Line and Ethernet Hub and Spoke services in the city. This will be followed with the deployment of IP and Ethernet VPN services.

The expansion marks Colt's latest foray into the Asia-Pacific region. Over the last few years, Colt has been investing to significantly increment its optical and Ethernet infrastructure in Singapore and Hong Kong, and recently extended its SIP trunking offering to the region.

Expanding the Colt IQ Network to Australia will also open up new routes between Australia and the key Asian hubs of Singapore and Japan, and will allow global businesses to take advantage of the growth of the region, according to Colt Technology Services CEO Carl Grivner.

“Asia Pacific continues to be an increasingly important region for Colt and our customers, so now is the perfect time for us to be extending our presence further,” he said.

“APAC is becoming a global driver of transformative technologies such as blockchain and 5G, so we want to ensure that organizations working in the region have access to Colt’s agile, on demand, high bandwidth network to drive their businesses forward.”
