Ericsson has unveiled the Ericsson Cloud System, a solution for the distribution and orchestration of cloud capabilities horizontally across the network.

The company said the new solution will enable new vertical exposure opportunities and is built on industry-leading concepts of Network-enabled Cloud and Service Provider SDN

The solution includes the Ericsson Cloud Execution Environment - an open, distributed platform based on OpenStack and KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) and the Ericsson Cloud Manager for end-to-end orchestration. The solution leverages the Ericsson Blade System (EBS) and the Ericsson Smart Services Router (SSR).

Ericsson further said this revolutionary cloud solution enables carriers and service providers to grasp market opportunities by enabling end-to-end elasticity using network assets. It enables distributed cloud capabilities such as computing and storage capabilities in the network, resulting in a better experience when using cloud applications, and more efficient utilization of network resources.
