iiNet is considering launching IPTV in 2009. If the Australian ISP follows through, it would be the country's first national IPTV service. iiNet's network currently covers 90% of the metropolitan population.

India's telecoms minister has announced that the Department of Telecom may terminate the licenses of new operators which fail to launch services within three years of winning a license.

Telecom Watchdog, an Indian telecom services consumer affairs NGO, has petitioned the nation's High Court to overturn the government's decision to grant incumbent operators additional spectrum, TelecomTiger reports.
