IPTV subs in South Korea on pace to 13m

Internet protocol TV (IPTV) services are becoming more and more popular in South Korea since their launch in 2008.

The services served 12.49 million subscribers as of November 2015, up 16.8% from 10.69 million a year before.

According to the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, the IPTV subscriber base in South Korea was 3.66 million in 2010 and 6.54 million in 2012, and surpassed the ten million mark in 2014.

It is estimated that IPTV customers will surpass the 13 million level in March 2016, given the average growth of 150,000 per month.
