The new Diameter network: Managing the signaling storm

The escalating data loads being unleashed by smart devices and applications have captured the attention of telecom media and industry analysts. However, another byproduct of data-driven devices and apps largely has been overlooked – the growth in Diameter signaling traffic. One-hundred percent of revenue-generating traffic in the LTE data network rides on Diameter signaling.

Operators need to give careful consideration to their Diameter architecture. The architecture choices they make today will not only impact how well the network performs, but ultimately will dictate success or failure in the mobile data market.

Legacy Diameter deployments lack the scalability, flexibility, and cost effectiveness to enable operators monetizes that traffic. To convert that traffic into revenues, service providers need a new Diameter network, one that’s optimized for the all-IP world.
