Telstra will await more information from the government before deciding whether to submit a bid for construction of the national broadband network [NBN].

In a doorstop interview after yesterday's address to the financial services institute of Australasia [FINSIA], Telstra CEO Sol Trujilo told reporters the company will wait until the submission deadline to make a decision.

He refused to discuss whether company would refuse to bid if the government insisted on pricing regulation, but again confirmed that Telstra considered any form of mandated separation a deal-breaker.

Trujilo also told reporters that Telstra is likely the only company in the running that can meet the projected $10-15 billion construction costs.
