Australia’s largest operator Telstra has secured a multi-million dollar contract to provide software defined wide area network (SD-WAN) services to agribusiness Ruralco.

Ruralco provides services including water services, financial services, live export and real estate services to agricultural companies in rural and regional Australia.

Under the new contract, Telstra will provide its SD-WAN solution to help better connect Ruralco’s more than 500 outlets Australia-wide.

Ruralco plans to use SD-WAN capability to enhance operational agility and application performance while increasing the bandwidth available at its outlets. The deployment will also support the adoption of an updated point of sales and customer relationship management solution enterprise-wide.

Telstra will also provide 2,200 mobile devices under the contract, which will see Ruralco’s technology services brought together under a single agreement.

“Telstra has a long and proud history supporting customers and businesses in rural and regional Australia. By partnering with Ruralco we are helping to provide innovative technology services to the communities that provide critical services to the rest of the country,” Telstra chief customer officer for enterprise Australia John Ieraci said in a statement announcing the new deal.

“This partnership demonstrates how serious we are about collaborating with our customers to deliver operational excellence to regional businesses.”
