Jaden Springer played his first game for the Utah Jazz last night but could not stop the Western Conference laggards from losing 130-107 to the West-leading OKC Thunder. The Jazz had acquired free agent Springer, who played 26 games for the champions Boston Celtics this season, on a 10-day contract. The Jazz had lost to the LA Lakers before the All-Star break and were dominated by an OKC side that led from the first half until the end of the game. John Collins led the Jazz with 26 points, Keyonte George contributed 20 points, and Walter Kessler chipped in 19 as the Jazz recorded another dismal performance. New guard Jaden Springer finished with seven points and two assists during an 11-minute cameo. Utah’s offense could not lay a glove on the Thunder’s defense, with OKC scoring 37 points off 19 Utah turnovers. Point Guard Collin Sexton missed the visit of the Thunder.
It was just a little bit of everything. Easing him back into it a little bit, not really conditioning-wise, but we will see how he looks in this game, and then everything will be open moving forward.

Jabari Smith returned after 22 games out with a broken left hand to score 15 points from the bench and help the Houston Rockets (35-21, fourth in the West) to a 121-115 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves and return to winning following a loss at in-form Golden State Warriors before the All-Star weekend. The Rockets, who suffered a 6-game skid a few weeks ago, primarily due to a terrible road form, finished a 4-game home stand 3-1 with the victory over the Wolves. Jalen Green led the Rockets with 35 points, and Alperen Sengun added 24 points and 13 rebounds to add to the 15 points and nine rebounds from Jabari Smith.
