Oscar De La Hoya Names Future Super Middleweight King

Head of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya commented on the victory of WBC Silver champion Jaime Munguia in the super middleweight division over John Ryder. Munguia won by technical knockout in the tenth round on the night of January 28 in Phoenix, USA.

De La Hoya told YouTube channel Fight Hub TV:

Jaime Munguia will be undisputed very soon. Mark my words. I love the fact that it’s only the first fight with [trainer] Freddie [Roach]. I saw a lot of improvements. Several fights from now, Jaime Munguia will be a completely new fighter.

Munguia, 27, previously stepped into the ring in June 2023, defeating Sergiy Derevyanchenko by unanimous decision. He has 43 wins (34 by knockout) and no losses on his record.

Ryder, 35, had his previous fight in May 2023, losing to Saul Alvarez by unanimous decision. He has 32 wins (18 by knockout) and seven defeats on his record.
