McLaren driver Oscar Piastri admitted that he did not expect support from his team and teammate Lando Norris after receiving a 10-second penalty at the British Grand Prix.
The championship leader was penalized for braking sharply behind the safety car. He disagreed with the decision and hinted to his team over the radio towards the end of the race that Norris might consider conceding the win to him.
Yeah. I thought I would ask the question. I knew what the answer was going to be before I asked. But I just wanted a small glimmer of hope that maybe I could get it back. But no, I knew it wasn’t going to happen. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. Lando didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t think it would have been particularly fair to have swapped, but I thought I’d at least ask.
For context, Lando Norris won the British Grand Prix, while his teammate Oscar Piastri finished in second place, 6.812 seconds behind.
In the F1 drivers' standings, Australian Oscar Piastri leads with 234 points, followed closely by British driver Lando Norris with 226 points. In the Constructors' Championship, McLaren is also at the top with a total of 460 points.
The next race is scheduled to take place from July 25 to July 27 at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.
