FIFA lists Bounou, Martinez and Courtois for Goalkeeper of the Year award

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced the list of nominees for the Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Goalkeepers Yassine Bounou, who represents Morocco and Sevilla, Emiliano Martinez (Argentina/Aston Villa) and Thibaut Courtois (Belgium/Real Madrid) are among the nominees for the prestigious individual award.

Morocco's Bounou and his national team reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, while Argentina's Martinez won the World Cup in Qatar and was named the tournament's best goalkeeper. Belgium's Courtois missed out on the group stage with his national team at the World Cup, but won the Spanish championship and the Champions League with Real Madrid.

The name of the winner will be announced at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris on February 27. The previous nominees were Brazilian goalkeepers Ederson (Manchester City) and Alisson (Liverpool).
