International Football Federation (FIFA) President Gianni Infantino has shared his thoughts on the importance of the Club World Cup for non-European clubs.
He noted that Europe has many top clubs and great competitions, but there was not enough platform for non-European clubs to perform.
Infantino emphasized that global competition was necessary to develop club football, which makes up 80% of the entire football world, to give all clubs that invest in talent development a chance to prove themselves.
Gianni Infantino quoted by FIFA
This inspires so many people back in their countries, so many kids who can hope that they can be a part of something. So, this is history and I believe, I’m convinced that as soon as the ball starts rolling, the whole world will realize what is happening here – something special.
Earlier it was reported that Infantino supported the idea of expanding the World Cup 2030 to 64 teams.
