Four-times World Cup winners Germany loses to Japan 2-1

The German national team lost to Japan in the first round match of the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which takes place in Qatar. The meeting was held on November 23 and ended with the victory of the Japanese with a score of 2-1.

German midfielder İlkay Gündoğan was the first to score in the 33rd minute from the penalty spot. The Japanese midfielder Ritsu Doan in the 75th minute made the score even, and eight minutes later Takuma Asano secured the lead for Japan with the winning goal. It’s worth noting that both Japan’s scorers play in the German Bundesliga.
