Argentina striker Lionel Messi has become the first player in history to score at all stages of the World Cup, reports Opta.
 
The 35-year-old forward scored against France in the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar. Thus, Messi scored goals in the group stage of the tournament, as well as in all four stages of the playoffs.
 
In total, the Argentine has scored six goals in seven games of the 2022 World Cup. He has caught up with three-time world champion Pelé, a member of the Brazilian national team, on the number of goals at the World Cup. Each of them has 12 goals.
