In the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, Real Madrid clinched a victory over Borussia Dortmund with a score of 3-2. This win has allowed los Blancos to set a new national record for the most matches played in a single season.
According to One Football, this match was Real's 67th of the 2024/25 season, surpassing the previous records held by Spanish teams. This number is expected to grow even further as the team continues its campaign in the 2025 Club World Cup and prepares for a semi-final meeting with PSG.
The previous record was also held by Real Madrid, which played 66 matches in the 2001/02 season. The Madrid club holds the third spot with 65 games played in the 1999/00 season. Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have the best results with 64 matches each, achieved in the 2009/10 and 2011/12 seasons, respectively.
