Swiss goalkeeper Sommer saves fifth penalty in a row

The final match of the UEFA Nations League group stage took place on September 27, where the Swiss team defeated the Czech Republic (2-1).

Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer saved a penalty in this match. He caught the ball from the penalty spot for the fifth time in a row.

Since 14 November 2020, the goalkeeper has made four penalty saves: twice from Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, once from Italy midfielder Jorginho and another time from Czech midfielder Tomas Soucek. In another match, Jorginho shot over the crossbar. It should be noted that the penalty shootout wasn't counted.

Switzerland finished third in Group 2, Division A of the Nations League. It has nine points. The Spaniards are first in the group (11), while the Portuguese are second (10). The Czech Republic finished last (4).
