Former Bellator bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis revealed which of the opponents in his professional career was the most difficult.
Sergio Pettis quoted by MMA Junkie
I’ve had so many tough fights and at different points in my career. I fought Cejudo when I had just turned 24 or 25 so I was still pretty fresh in the game and he exposed my game. Rob Font was another really tough fight. Then Patchy Mix too, he went out there and subbed me, which hadn’t happened since I was 20-years-old. But man, the toughest has to be Kyoji Horiguchi, he was a beast too – the way he tore up my legs and exposed me for four rounds, that was probably the most frustrated I’ve been in a fight.
Pettis and Horiguchi have met in the cage twice. Their first fight, held in 2021 at the Bellator 272 tournament, ended in favor of Sergio by knockout in the fourth round. Kioji won their second fight in June 2024 at Rizin 47 by unanimous decision.
Pettis will next fight Raufeon Stots on June 28 at PFL World Tournament 7 in Chicago (USA). Sergio has 23 wins and seven losses in mixed martial arts.
