Deiveson Figueiredo, the former UFC flyweight champion, will not need surgery on his knee following an injury sustained during his fight with Cory Sandhagen.
According to Figueiredo's manager, Alex Davis, the Brazilian has been diagnosed with a tear of the anterolateral ligament in his knee. Figueiredo will undergo a course of physical therapy, which he has already started, along with giving his knee time to rest and heal.
For context, on May 4, in Des Moines, USA, Figueiredo lost to Sandhagen via technical knockout in the second round during the main event of UFC on ESPN 67.
Figueiredo's last fight before this was in November 2024 at UFC Fight Night 248, where he lost to Petr Yan by unanimous decision. His professional record stands at 24 wins, 5 losses, and 1 draw.
