Former UFC fighter and Bellator caster Josh Thomson criticized Dana White's decision to announce Glover Teixeira's fight against Jamahal Hill immediately after UFC 282.

Dana never gave a damn about anything. These guys just got in a fight, they are getting stitches and ice on their shins, and Dana is already announcing the next title fight in the division they fight in. He never cared. He thinks he needs a champion. Because you can't promote PPV nights without a champion.
Ankalaev and Blachowicz fought in the main event of UFC 282 and ended in a draw at the end of five rounds. The light heavyweight championship belt of the promotion was left vacant. Immediately after the tournament, White announced that Glover Teixeira and Jamahal Hill would fight on January 21 at UFC 283 in Brazil.
