British UFC fighter Michael Page shared his thoughts on the upcoming middleweight title fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Dricus Du Plessis.
Michael Page in an interview with Ariel Helwani
I feel disrespectful when I say it, I genuinely don’t understand why DDP keeps winning. I can see aspects of his technical ability. It’s not appealing to me. He just seems to know how to get the win, and push through. If this fight came up before, I’d say Khamzat [will win] no issues. But DDP knows how to keep grinding out a win. Skill-wise, Khamzat. But [du Plessis] just knows how to grind it out.
Recall that Chimaev and Du Plessis are set to clash on August 17 at UFC 319 in Chicago (USA). Du Plessis last fought Sean Strickland in February 2025 at UFC 312, winning the match by unanimous decision and defending his championship title. He boasts 23 wins and 2 losses.
Chimaev last stepped into the octagon against Robert Whittaker in October 2024 at UFC 308, winning that bout by submission in the first round. He remains undefeated with a record of 14 wins and no losses.
