UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria expressed support for families living in the Gaza Strip who are suffering from the humanitarian crisis caused by ongoing Israeli strikes, during his appearance at the New Economy Forum in Madrid.
Ilia Topuria
The truth is that we cannot support such things. We don't want anyone in the world to die. We always want everyone to have everything they need, to have water to drink and bread to eat. And, honestly, from here we send all our support to the families in Gaza, you and I. If I had the opportunity to do something, I would stop this war right now, because I have no tolerance for it.
Topuria declined to take a position in the debate over whether Israeli teams and athletes should be barred from competitions.
Topuria’s last fight was against Charles Oliveira in June 2025 at UFC 317. He won by first-round knockout and claimed the UFC lightweight title. His record stands at 17 wins and no losses.
