Top Russian UFC heavyweight Alexander Volkov revealed what he thinks about heavyweight champion Jon Jones delaying a fight with interim division champion Tom Aspinall.
Alexander Volkov for Championat
I'm frustrated as a fighter, of course, because I'm getting fewer chances to fight for the title and time is running out. I would have had a chance to test myself in a title fight a long time ago if it weren't for Jones. But I can understand him. The UFC gives him that privilege, he feels like he is the master of the situation. Jon knows he's going to be valuable to the UFC either way. And he's just taking advantage of that. If I were in Jones' place, with the goal to earn the most money and the desire to fight when it is convenient for him, then, of course, I would also keep doing it.
Jones last stepped into the octagon against Stipe Miocic in November 2024 at UFC 309. That fight, which was stopped in the third round, ended in favor of Jones by technical knockout. He has 28 wins and one loss, with one no-contest.
Aspinall last fought against Curtis Blaydes in July 2024 at UFC 304. Tom won that fight by knockout in the first round. He has 15 wins and three losses under his belt.
Volkov last fought in December 2024 at UFC 310, losing to Ciryl Gane by split decision. He has 38 wins and 11 losses under his belt.
