The number three ranked fighter of the UFC heavyweight division, Russian fighter Alexander Volkov spoke about appealing the result of the rematch with French heavyweight Ciryl Gane.
Alexander Volkov quoted by Championat
As far as I know, my managers filed an appeal, but it was rejected. The thing is, each state has its own athletic commission. They all act independently of each other. To win this process, you need the very judge who had made the decision, to acknowledge he was at fault. And if he does, he will be fined and there will be some other responsibility.
Recall, the second fight between Volkov and Gane, which took place in December 2024 at UFC 310, went the full distance and ended with the victory of the French fighter by split decision. Many fighters and experts felt that judges Adalaide Byrd and Junichiro Kamijo, who awarded the victory to Gane, "robbed" Volkov, and UFC CEO Dana White agreed with that opinion.
Volkov has 38 wins and 11 losses to his name. Ghana has 13 wins and two losses.
