The ex-figure player regained consciousness, but because of the damaged blood supply Kostomarov developed necrosis and sepsis, which provoked gangrene in his legs and led to the amputation of his left foot.
On February 13, "Match TV" reported that early this week a decision would be made on the need for further operations to save the athlete's life.
