Fijian rugby player Josaia Raisuqe, who played for the French club Castres, tragically passed away at the age of 30 in a car accident, according to La Depeche.
News sources say Raisuqe's car was hit by a train at a crossing, and pulled along for roughly 200 meters. The athlete died at the scene. Just minutes before the tragedy, he had been at the club's training center located nearby.
According to L'Equipe, Raisuqe's teammates were informed of the incident and were released from training. Castres were scheduled to play a match against Clermont on Saturday in the National Rugby League, but there are discussions about possibly postponing the game.
Raisuqe also won a silver medal in rugby sevens at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
