After four rounds of the group stage, the Czech Republic national team, which is the host of Group D tournament, has only one victory. The Czechs gained it in a meeting with the weakest team in the subgroup, the Netherlands (88-80). The Czechs also lost to Poland (84-99), Serbia (68-81), and in the previous round to Finland (88-98). Ronen Ginzburg's team has had a weak tournament so far, but surprisingly, if they can beat Israel they will make the playoffs.
Israel lost two games in a row
The Israeli team began EuroBasket with two wins. First, the Israelis overcame Finland 89-87 (79-79) in overtime. Then they defeated the Netherlands (74-67). However, this successful start was overshadowed by losses in the next two rounds, to Poland (76-85) and Serbia (78-89). Now, if Guy Goodes's team loses to the Czechs as well, they will unexpectedly leave the tournament at the end of the group stage.
