Marie thoroughly dominated the game in various ways, eking out a 29-22 receiving points and 37-18 service points advantage. Marie had defeated Sinja Kraus 6-2, 7-6 in the first round before getting through Salkova.

Marie is ranked at 66th in the WTA Single’s rankings and has been as high as 46 in May. Before Prague Open, Marie had an impressive Quarter-Finals Wimbledon run defeating tough athletes such as Danielle Collins, Caroline Garcia, and Alison Riske. Marie can benefit from getting forward here in Prague Open in big ways, she has already earned the status as a Regular in major tournaments, bypassing the hassle of playing in the Qualifiers.

Oksana Selekehmeteva

Oksana comes into this game after defeating Chloe Picquet 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in the Round of 16. It wasn’t the cleanest game as both players ended up committing a ton of double faults, Oksana 6 and Chloe 9. Oksana gathered an amazing upset when she defeated Sorena Cirstea in a close game during the Round of 32 game. Selekehmeteva made it to the main rounds after winning two Qualifiers in a row.

Oksana is still a young player, just 19 years old and much of her success has come in the ITF circuit. She has achieved a lot of success in the WTA circuits too, as she has been able to come up to a 173 rank which is surely impressive for her age. The youngster has obvious holes in her game and can work on her serve game, but overall, she can burst into the top hundred in a couple of years if she progresses like this right now.

This is the first time Marie and Oksana are going to cross paths here. Both are having an amazing year and both have a more than respectable record on the clay surface. It will be interesting to see if Oksana can replicate the heroics she deployed while beating Sorana Cirstea. However, I see Marie coming through here quite easily.
