Home appliances may be getting smart, but one fridge has shown the products aren't yet clever enough to repel cyber attacks.
The fridge was one of 100,000 devices used to send around 750,000 spam emails in a recent attack, security firm Proofpoint says. Home routers and smart TVs were also used in the attack, along with more traditional PCs.
Proofpoint claims the attack is the first to use smart home appliances, and highlights the lack of security on those products relative to PCs.
