Ibrahima Cissé, the 28-year-old Guinean forward, told Telecom Asia Sport in an interview why he decided to move to Russia and recommended players from Europe to move to the Russian championship.
- There is a lot of pressure on Russian sports in Europe at the moment. Many foreigners are terminating their contracts with Russian clubs and leaving the country. Why did you decide to move to Russia at such a time?
- To be honest, I find it strange. There is no unrest in Russia, so there is no need for me to dramatize the situation. Everyone makes their own choice, but life in the country is normal, so it doesn't bother me.
- You were born in Belgium, and currently there are very few Europeans willing to go to Russia. What would you tell them about the Russian championship?
- I grew up in Belgium, and I know European life very well. So, I would say that if someone from Europe has the opportunity to come and play in Russia, I would strongly recommend them to do so. It's a beautiful country, the approach is very professional, and you don't feel deprived of anything.
The forward made 13 appearances for Fulham between 2017 and 2020 but didn't have any productive action. Since September 2022, Cissé has been playing for the Russian club Ural FC. He played 13 matches this season without any productive action.
