Former two-weight UFC champion Daniel Cormier explained why he decided not to participate in the Russian reality show ALF Reality, where he was supposed to compete against UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones as opposing team coaches.
I was offered to coach, against [Jones] prior, but I didn’t accept it. I can’t do a month in Thailand, opposite side Jon Jones. Especially when I can’t fight that dude no more… I’m 46 years old. I mean, I would do it for fun, but I’m not ready to spend a month in Thailand.
It's important to note that Jon Jones and Nate Diaz were named team captains on ALF Reality.
Jones and Cormier faced each other twice in the octagon. In 2015, Jon defeated Daniel by unanimous decision, and two years later, he won their rematch by knockout. However, the result of that second fight was later cancelled due to Jones failing a drug test.
In mixed martial arts, Jones has recorded 28 wins and one loss, with one fight declared a no contest. Cormier boasts 22 wins and three losses, with one fight ruled as a no contest.
