AIS non-voice revenue grows 30% YoY

Thailand’s number one telco AIS has announced a 30% YoY growth for non-voice revenue in Q2, up to 12 billion baht ($383 million).

Digital music is the most popular service with over six million users, followed by news at one million.

Separately AIS announced that its eBook store now boasts half a million users, the largest in Thailand, with 2.6 million books sold since its launched in July 2011.

200 titles from 180 publishers are offered through its eBook store which are between 10-30% cheaper than print versions.

Moving forward, the telco has partnered with Inspire entertainment to offer seven popular magazine titles with double the usual content, including video, and in full HD. These include popular titles such as FHM, Stuff and Grazia.

Android and iOS are supported.

Pratana Leelapanang, acting SVP for digital content and services at AIS said that he expected AIS’ e-book sales to double next year as more and more subscribers turn to consuming content on tablets.
