Estonian Anett Kontaveit and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova will go up against each other in the WTA Finals of the Kremlin Cup.
Kontaveit’s journey: Anett took down a bunch of heavy weights before coming into the title clash. She came into the Finals after beating Marketa Vondrousova 6-3, 6-4 in the Semi-Finals. Before that, she had taken down the second-seeded Garbine Muguruza 6-1, 6-1. In the Round of 16, Kontaveit beat Andrea Petkovic 6-1, 6-4. Meanwhile, she began her campaign by overcoming Katerina Sinakova 6-3, 6-3.
Alexandrova’s journey: Alexandrova has also beaten a ton of superstars before reaching this stage. Ekaterina comes into this game after clinching a walkover win versus third-seeded Maria Sakkari, before being up 4-1 in the opening set. She ended number-one seeded Aryna Sabalenka’s journey in a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Before that, she beat Anhelina Kalinina 6-4, 6-1. Ekaterina opened the campaign with a walkover win versus Ons Jabeur after she won the first set 6-1, and claimed a 1-0 lead in the second set.
